Meet & Greets and Adoption

I'm interested in (dogs name) and want to meet them

Answer: Your first step is always to fill out an adoption application!

How long does it take to hear back about my adoption application?

Answer: All HDF members are volunteers. Many works full time and invest their spare time to Hawaii Dog Foundation. The response time after filling out an adoption application is usually 3-4 days depending on how many applications are submitted. *Please check your SPAM box as emails often end up there.

Did HDF receive my application?

Answer: 99% of the time, HDF has received your application. If you are unsure if you completely filled out the application or if the application went through, feel free to reach out to us!

How do I know if my application was chosen for meet and greets?

Answer: The more detail you can give in your application the better. Think of HDF as a matchmaker for dogs and humans! Please make sure you review your application before submitting it.

Some key things to remember:

1. Be aware of your housing and the breed of dog you're applying for.

2. Reading the dog's biography is extremely important.

3. If you currently have other animals, are they up to date on all vax's and preventatives?

4. Does your lifestyle fit with the dog's needs?

5. Agreeing to all of HDF's requirements.

Important note: When receiving abundant applications for puppies, more common breeds, and/or hypoallergenic dogs; it takes the team a while to go through each one. Depending on the number of dog(s), HDF tries to limit the number of meet and greets. This prevents our pups feeling overwhelmed.
